Dennis Conners, WHAT ONCE WE FELT Stage Manager, discusses his favorite ladies, kumquats and powdered doughnuts in this short perspective on the WOWF experience.

Hello About Face blago’s and blaguettes.  This is not Dav – Assistant Director Extraordinaire – here, but rather just your friendly neighborhood Stage Manager, Dennis.  So, if you came to this site expecting some amazing drawings and quickwitted banter… you might want to hit that back button now.  If you decide to stick around, I’m not really sure what’s in store for you as I haven’t written it yet and don’t really know what to write.  Don’t worry, the detailed report of our funtabulous Noir Thru is still on its way… we just haven’t gotten to it yet.  Right now we’re too focused on the amazing detailed scene work that is being accomplished and we will layer on the stylization aspect sometime next week.  I guess what I can talk about is how friggin excited I am to be working on this project.  I mean, working in theater can be a dream… I love my job, but that being said sometimes it is in fact that – a job.  Not necessarily so on this one.  The process on this one has been great. Not only am I in love with the script and the questions it poses and forces one to think about, I am also completely enthralled with the extremely talented group of women I get to work with.  Dav has yet to mention that fact that him and I are the only two men in a room with 8-10 women (6 Actresses, 1 Director, 1 ASM, 2 Understudies).  Luckily I grew up with 3 sisters….. but in all seriousness these ladies are all fantastic.  The work that has already been accomplished is unreal, and every night I am shocked by what I see in front of me.  As a stage manager, it can be hard to watch the same thing over and over and over and still be moved by it, but I don’t think that will be the case with this one.  Every night I am drawn in by these women and become lost in the world we have created.  And to boot, we have a damn good time doing it… filled with lots of laughs and silly jokes about goats, powdered donuts, and kumquat squats.  So in closing… Thank you About Face for letting me be a part of this one, and thank you ladies for every day we’ve spent together.
